Food & Brews Innovators and Disruptors

With Messina, Deliveroo, Zomato & Young Henry's

Saturday 3 September

SPEAKERS

Ramzey Choker

Founder & Creator, The Grounds of Alexandria

-Ramzey is the mastermind behing one of Sydney most-loved food business The Grounds of Alexandria.

Declan Lee

Co-Director, Messina

Declan Lee has certainly forged a unique life path. Whilst attempting to combine 2 rather disparate career paths as both a physiotherapist (specialising in hand injuries) and as a DJ in the early 90’s, it became clear his life trajectory was always going to be full of twists and turns. Soon after leaving his physio skills on hold, he was instrumental in the establishment of the world’s biggest electronic music brand in Australia – Ministry of Sound. His greatest achievement so far however is the rise and rise of Gelato Messina.

Jake Smyth

Co-Owner, Mary's

Jake Smyth is co-owner of Mary’s, a noisy bar and burger joint that has kept knees wobbling since 2013.

He has since expanded the Mary’s empire branding the CBD and opened the Unicorn Hotel in 2015 with a bunch of his best mates to critical and popular acclaim.

Jennifer Lam

Entrepreneur, Founding Editor, I Ate My Way Through

Jennifer is the appetite behind one of Australia’s longest running food & travel blogs, I Ate My Way Through. Using the blog as a launching pad to her entrepreneurial journey, Jen has been blogging for just over ten years and in business for over six years. Together with a team of contributors and tour guides, they use food as a common ground to connect and inspire readers, both online and offline, about different cultures, cuisines, social habits and eating traditions. Jen is also a digital marketer and runs The Bamboo Garden, a digital marketing & PR agency helping food and lifestyle brands to maximise their online presence.

Oscar McMahon

Co-Founder, Young Henrys

Schooled in Newtown but more interested in skateboarding and guitar, Oscar joined the Hell City Glamours and spent 13 years touring Australia and the world making music, memories and not much money. For a bit over six years he worked behind bars, crafting his skills and refining his tastes as a master mixologist, amateur psychologist, raconteur, confidant and bon vivant. This led to meeting Richard Adamson and starting Young Henrys together.

Hannah Nicdao

Senior Product Designer, ustwo

Hailing from NYC, Hannah is a creative with a keen interest in what makes people tick. She has spent the past 8+ years designing, strategizing, and building in digital spaces with a human-centric approach.

Having collaborated with small startups, large corporations, and everything in between, she believes that understanding people and purpose will always be the life blood for creating successful products and services; small and large companies alike.

Hannah was part of the pioneer team for ustwo Sydney – the newest edition of the global digital product studio. As a senior product designer, her focus runs deep in visual and interaction design with a healthy dose of user research and product strategy. Other superpowers include illustration, workshop facilitation, and overplaying 80-90s hits on Sonos.

Chad Gillard

Co-Founder, Future Classic

Chad has worked at Future Classic since it first began in 2004 and in recent years became a co-director of the company alongside Nathan McLay and Jay Ryves. Initially working in promotions and marketing at FC, he currently oversees the A&R department working with artists including Flume, Chet Faker, Ta-ku, Flight Facilities, Jagwar Ma and Wafia.

Mike Biggs

Product Innovation Consultant, ThoughtWorks

Mike is a Product Innovation Consultant at ThoughtWorks, where he works with clients to explore and define viable products for production. Products can be anything from a digital product through to a complex service involving the orchestration of many products.

Mike leads the local chapter of the Interaction Design Foundation, and is also a Thinking Instructor with the School of Thinking.

He considers Product Management to be like playing in a jazz band, demanding the ability to play with the band and break out into a solo as required in a context of high ambiguity.

Mina Nada

General Manager, Deliveroo

Mina joined deliveroo in September 2015 as one of its first APAC employees and has been responsible for leading Deliveroo's market entry, expansion and consolidation in Sydney. Deliveroo is now the market leader in Sydney's food delivery space.

Prior to joining Deliveroo, Mina was a consultant for Bain & Company, where he advised clients in the Private Equity, Financial Services and Media sectors. Previously Mina co- founded INCUBATE, an award winning startup accelerator. He has also served in the Australian Army and on Not For Profit boards.
